How to convert SVG to PDF

SVG is how logos, icons, charts, diagrams and illustrations are shared on the web, but printers, clients and document systems usually want a PDF. Many converters simply take a screenshot of the SVG, which makes the PDF blurry when you zoom or print large. SVG to PDF converts the drawing into real vector PDF graphics: every path, shape, stroke and gradient is redrawn with PDF operators and text stays selectable, so the result is as sharp on a billboard as on a phone.

How to convert SVG to PDF

  1. Add your SVG files. Drop them onto the page or click Choose files. Add several to combine them.
  2. Keep the vector method. Vector is the default. Choose High resolution image only if you want a picture of the drawing.
  3. Choose the page. Same size as the SVG, or centered on A4 or Letter with a margin.
  4. Convert and download. The result shows whether each file was drawn as vectors or as an image.

Good for print and documents

A vector PDF is what print shops, sign makers and laser cutters ask for, and it is the cleanest way to put a logo or a diagram into a report or a presentation handout. Because the browser lays out the SVG first, CSS styles, classes and the viewBox are respected, so the PDF matches what you see in Chrome. When a file uses an effect PDF cannot draw exactly, the converter does not guess: it places a 300 DPI image so the look is still right, and tells you so.

Private and safe

The SVG is read in your browser. Scripts and external references inside the file are removed before it is displayed, and nothing is uploaded or stored.

Who uses it

Designers send logos and icons to printers in PDF, engineers export diagrams from draw.io, Figma, Inkscape or Excalidraw and need them in a document, teachers turn SVG worksheets into printable pages, and developers archive charts generated by D3 or Mermaid. A vector PDF keeps all of these crisp in print and small on disk.

Tips

  • Converting photos rather than drawings? Use Images to PDF.
  • Need SVG pages joined with other documents? Combine them in Merge PDF.
  • Want an image again later? PDF to PNG renders pages at up to 300 DPI.
  • Have a web page with SVG charts? HTML to PDF converts the whole page.

Features

  • Real vector output: paths, shapes, strokes, dashes and gradients stay sharp at any zoom
  • Text in the SVG stays selectable and searchable in the PDF
  • Files with filters, masks or blend effects fall back to a 300 DPI image so they still look right
  • Combine several SVG files into one PDF, one page each
  • Page the same size as the drawing, or fitted to A4 or US Letter
  • Runs in your browser and never runs scripts from the file

Frequently asked questions

Is the PDF really vector?

Yes, whenever the SVG uses features PDF can draw directly: paths, rectangles, circles, lines, polygons, strokes, dashes, opacity, clip paths, linear and radial gradients, embedded images and text. You can zoom in as far as you like and edges stay sharp.

What if my SVG uses filters or masks?

Effects such as blur filters, masks, patterns, markers or blend modes cannot be reproduced exactly as vectors, so that file is placed as a high resolution image of about 300 DPI instead. The result screen tells you which method was used.

Will the text stay editable?

Text in Latin scripts is written as real PDF text, so you can select, copy and search it. Fonts are mapped to the closest standard PDF font (sans serif, serif or monospace) and stretched to the same width as in the SVG. Text in other scripts makes the file use the image method.

Can I put several SVG files into one PDF?

Yes. Add as many SVG files as you need and arrange them. Each one becomes a page of the same PDF.

Is it safe to open an unknown SVG here?

SVG files can contain scripts. This converter removes scripts, event handlers and external links before reading the drawing, and everything happens in your browser without uploading the file.

What page size does the PDF get?

By default the page is exactly as big as the SVG drawing (its width and height or viewBox). You can also center it on an A4 or US Letter page with a margin.
