Save PDF pages as sharp, lossless PNG images

PDF to PNG without losing sharpness

Sometimes a PDF has to become a picture: a slide for a chat, a page for a website, a chart for a presentation or a form for a system that only accepts images. This PDF to PNG converter renders each page you choose as a PNG image, exactly as it looks in a PDF viewer, with text, lines and graphics combined in one picture.

PNG is lossless, which makes it the right choice when the page is mostly text, tables, diagrams or line art. Letters keep clean edges instead of the soft halo you often see in JPG files. Everything is done in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded.

How to convert a PDF to PNG

  1. Drop a PDF on the page or click to select it.
  2. PNG is already selected as the image format. You can switch to JPG or WebP if you change your mind.
  3. Choose the resolution: Screen (72 DPI), Standard (150 DPI) or High (300 DPI).
  4. Keep All pages, or choose Specific pages and type pages and ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-.
  5. Press Convert to images, then download each PNG, or all of them together in a ZIP.

Choosing the resolution

  • 72 DPI gives about 595 by 842 pixels for an A4 page. Good for thumbnails and quick previews.
  • 150 DPI doubles that. It suits websites, slides and comfortable reading on screen.
  • 300 DPI gives about 2480 by 3508 pixels for A4. Pick it for PDF to PNG in high quality: printing, zooming into small print or feeding a page to OCR software.

Higher resolution means larger PNG files. Since PNG does not throw detail away, a 300 DPI page can be several times the size of the same page as JPG.

PNG vs JPG for PDF pages

The PDF to Images tool starts with JPG, which is ideal for photo heavy pages. This page starts with PNG because many people converting a PDF want crisp text above all.

  • Choose PNG for documents, invoices, spreadsheets, code, diagrams, maps and anything with fine lines or small letters.
  • Choose JPG for brochures and pages that are mostly photographs, where a smaller file matters more than perfect edges.
  • Choose WebP when the images are going on a website and you want small files with good quality.

Can I get a transparent PNG?

No. Pages are rendered the way a PDF viewer shows them, on a white page background, so the PNG files have a white background rather than a transparent one. If you need a logo or graphic without a background, try Extract Images from PDF, which saves the images embedded in the document instead of whole pages.

Convert a single PDF page to PNG

You do not have to convert the whole file. Choose Specific pages and type just the page you need, such as 4, or a list like 2, 6, 10-12. Writing 8- means page 8 to the end. Each page becomes its own PNG, named after your PDF and the page number, for example report-page-4.png, so the files stay in order.

What happens to multi page PDFs

Every selected page is turned into a separate PNG file. A ten page PDF converted with All pages gives you ten images, and progress is shown page by page while the browser works. When the conversion is done you can save the images one at a time, which is handy if you only need a couple, or download them all at once in a ZIP archive. The page size of each image follows the page size in the PDF, so a landscape page gives a wide image and a portrait page gives a tall one, at the resolution you picked.

Common uses

  • Social media and messaging: post a flyer, certificate or menu as an image that previews instantly.
  • Websites and documentation: show a page of a manual or a report without a PDF viewer.
  • Slides and design tools: drop a chart or table into a presentation as a sharp image.
  • Image only uploads: send a signed page to a portal that accepts pictures but not PDF.
  • Editing: open a page in an image editor to crop, mark up or highlight details.
  • Teaching and training: turn worksheet or handout pages into images for an online course or a learning platform.

Tips

  • Start with 150 DPI. Move to 300 DPI only when you need print quality or very small text.
  • For long documents at 300 DPI, convert in smaller ranges if your browser slows down.
  • A password protected PDF needs its password removed first with Remove PDF Password.
  • If the page has a dark background or colored areas, PNG keeps them exactly; nothing is lightened or compressed away.
  • Rename the downloaded ZIP after the project so the page images are easy to find later.
  • Want to go back from images to a document? PNG to PDF combines PNG files into one PDF.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a PDF to PNG?

Drop your PDF on this page, keep PNG as the format, choose a resolution and the pages you want, then press Convert to images. Download the PNG files one by one or together as a ZIP.

How do I get high quality PNG images?

Choose High (300 DPI). An A4 page then becomes an image of about 2480 by 3508 pixels, sharp enough for printing and for reading small text.

Can I convert just one page of a PDF to PNG?

Yes. Choose Specific pages and type the page number, for example 4. You can also enter lists and ranges such as 2, 6, 10-12.

Does it create transparent PNG files?

No. Pages are rendered on a white background, the same way a PDF viewer displays them. To save embedded logos or graphics on their own, use Extract Images from PDF.

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

PNG is lossless and best for text, tables and diagrams. JPG makes smaller files and suits pages that are mostly photos.

Why are my PNG files large?

PNG keeps every detail, so files grow with resolution. Use 150 DPI for screen use, or switch to JPG or WebP if file size matters more.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Each page is rendered by your browser on your device, so the PDF and the PNG images never leave your computer or phone.
