Online PDF Viewer

PDF Viewer opens any PDF directly in your browser, so you can read it without installing a reader app or uploading the file anywhere. Pages are drawn on your own device, which keeps private documents private and makes even long files quick to open. It is handy on shared or work computers where you cannot install software, on Chromebooks, and whenever you just want to check a document before you download, print or send it.

How to view a PDF online

1. Open your PDF. Drop the file onto the page or click to choose it. The first page appears straight away, fitted to the width of the screen.
2. Move through the document. Scroll to read, or type a page number in the page box and press Enter to jump there. The counter always shows which page you are on and how many pages the file has.
3. Adjust the view. Use the plus and minus buttons to zoom from 25% to 400%, the fit-to-width button to return to a comfortable size, and the rotate button to turn the pages 90° at a time.
4. Search and check details. Type a word in the search box to highlight every match and step through them, or open Document info to see the title, author, dates and page size.

Search inside the PDF

Search looks through the text of every page and highlights each match on the page itself. The counter shows how many matches were found, and the arrow buttons, or pressing Enter again, take you to the next or previous one. Search is not case-sensitive, so "invoice" also finds "Invoice". It works on PDFs that contain real text, such as exported documents, reports and e-books. A scanned PDF is only a picture of text, so search finds nothing there; run it through PDF OCR first to make the text searchable.

Zoom, fit and rotate

Fit to width sizes every page to the viewer, including landscape pages in an otherwise portrait document, so nothing is cut off. Zoom in to read small print, tables or drawings, and zoom out to see the layout of a page at a glance. Rotate turns the view when a document was scanned sideways; it changes only how you see the pages. To save the rotation in the file, use the Rotate PDF tool.

Document information

The info panel shows the details stored inside the PDF: title, author, subject, the program that created it, the PDF producer, creation and modification dates, number of pages, page size in millimetres, file size and PDF version. It is a quick way to check where a document came from or whether it was edited, without opening any other software.

Private by design

The file never leaves your computer: it is read and displayed by your browser, and nothing is uploaded to a server. When you close the tab, the document is gone. Password-protected PDFs need the password removed first with Remove PDF Password. To add notes, highlights or a signature, use Edit PDF or Sign PDF, which save your changes into a new file.
