How to edit a PDF online
WoowPDF's free PDF editor lets you fix a typo, fill in a missing detail, sign a contract or mark up a report without installing any software. Everything runs in your browser: your document is opened on your own device, you make your changes on the real pages, and you download a finished PDF in seconds. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no upload.
Edit a PDF in four steps
- Open your PDF. Drop the file onto the page or click Choose file. Pages appear straight away, with thumbnails on the side for long documents.
- Pick a tool. Use Edit text to change words that are already there, or add text, images, shapes, highlights, whiteout and signatures from the toolbar.
- Adjust your changes. Drag items to move them, pull a corner to resize, and use the property bar to change font, size, color, thickness or opacity. Undo and redo are always one click away.
- Save the PDF. Click Save PDF, rename the file if you like, and download it.
Change existing text
Select Edit text and every line of text on the page becomes clickable. Click one and the editor covers the original words with a box that matches the page background, then places your replacement text on top in the same size, a matching font family and the original color. It is the quickest way to correct a name, update a date, change a price or fix a spelling mistake. If the PDF is a scan, first make it searchable with our PDF OCR tool.
Add text, images and signatures
Click anywhere on a page to type new text. Choose Helvetica, Times or Courier, set bold, italic, underline or strikethrough, align left, center or right, and pick any color. Add a logo, stamp or photo with Image (PNG, JPG, WebP and GIF are supported) and scale it to fit. To sign, draw your signature with a mouse, finger or stylus, or type your name in a handwriting style, then place it on the signature line.
Annotate and mark up
Highlight important passages, draw rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows to point things out, sketch freely with the pen, and tick boxes with check marks or crosses. Every item stays editable until you save, so you can restyle it, duplicate it with Ctrl+D, nudge it with the arrow keys or bring it to the front.
White out content
The whiteout tool paints a solid box over anything you want to hide or replace, such as an old address, a signature line you do not need or a stray note. You can change the box color to match colored backgrounds. Remember that whiteout hides content visually; for sensitive information, use a redaction tool that removes the data from the file.
Private by design
Unlike many online editors, WoowPDF never sends your document to a server. Reading, editing and saving all happen locally in your browser, which makes the editor safe for contracts, invoices, medical forms and other confidential files, and fast even on slow connections.

- Hold Shift while resizing a shape to keep its proportions.
- Use the Background color on edited text when the page is not white.

Is this PDF editor really free?

Can I change the existing text in my PDF?
Yes. Choose Edit text and click any line. The original words are covered with a box that matches the page background and your new text is placed on top in a matching size and color. You can then move, restyle or delete it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is opened, edited and saved entirely inside your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers, so confidential documents stay on your device.
Why can't I select the text in my scanned PDF?
A scanned PDF is a picture of a page, so it has no real text to edit. Run it through our PDF OCR tool first to make the text recognizable, or use whiteout and Add text to cover and rewrite parts of the scan.
Does whiteout permanently remove information?
Whiteout hides content visually by painting a solid box over it, but the original data can still exist underneath in the file. For passwords, ID numbers or other sensitive details, use a true redaction tool that deletes the content.
Can I add my signature to a PDF?
Yes. Click Sign, then draw your signature with a mouse, finger or stylus, or type your name in a handwriting style. Place it anywhere on the page and resize it to fit the signature line.
Does the editor support Arabic, Hindi, Chinese and other languages?
Yes. You can type text in any language. Latin text is saved as real PDF text; scripts the standard PDF fonts cannot display are rendered in high resolution so they always look correct.
Will editing reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. Your original pages are kept exactly as they are and your changes are added on top as vector text, shapes and lines, so the file stays sharp and searchable.
Can I edit a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Remove the password first with our Remove PDF Password tool (you need to know the password), edit the file, then protect it again if needed.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
