How to change the page size of a PDF
A PDF made in the United States prints with cut-off margins on A4 paper, a poster needs to become a handout, or a publisher wants every page at exactly 6 × 9 inches. WoowPDF's Resize PDF tool changes the page size of every page to A4, Letter, Legal, A3, A5, B5, Tabloid or any custom size, and scales the content to fit. It works directly on the PDF's page geometry, so text stays text, lines stay sharp and links keep working. Everything runs in your browser, with no upload and no watermark.
How to resize a PDF
- Add your PDF. Drop one or more files onto the page or click Choose files.
- Pick the new size. Select a standard paper size or Custom size and enter the width and height in millimetres or inches.
- Choose how the content fits. Fit keeps the whole page visible, Fill covers the sheet, Stretch fills it exactly. The preview shows each page before and after.
- Resize and download. Click Resize PDF and download the new file.
Three ways to fit the content
Fit is the safe default: the whole original page is scaled to the largest size that fits on the new sheet and centred, so nothing is ever cut off. When the shapes differ, for example Letter to A4, a thin empty band remains, which you can leave white or fill with a colour. Fill scales the page until it covers the whole sheet and trims whatever sticks out, which is ideal for artwork and photos that should run to the edge. Stretch makes the content exactly the size of the new page; small changes are invisible, larger ones distort the layout.
Orientation and margins
By default each page keeps its own orientation, so a document that mixes portrait text pages and landscape tables comes out right. You can also force all pages to portrait or landscape. In the advanced options, add a margin of up to 40 mm to keep content away from the paper edge, which is useful for binding or for printers that cannot print borderless.
Quality and interactivity preserved
Many online resizers print each page to an image and put it on a new page, losing sharpness, text search and links. WoowPDF instead applies a precise transformation to the existing page content and changes the page boxes. Fonts, vector drawings and images are untouched, file size barely changes, and link, comment and form-field areas are moved along with the content so they still work in the resized file.
Common uses
Convert US Letter documents to A4 for printing in Europe, Asia or Africa, or A4 to Letter for the US and Canada. Shrink A3 plans and posters to A4 handouts, enlarge A5 booklets to A4 for easier reading, prepare manuscripts at a publisher's trim size, and standardise a merged PDF whose pages all have different sizes.
Tips for the best result
- Mixed page sizes after merging? Merge PDF first, then resize everything to one size in a single step.
- Want to cut away white borders instead of scaling? Use Crop PDF.
- Printing handouts? Combine the resized pages with multiple pages per sheet.
- Sideways pages? Rotate them before resizing, and add page numbers afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
How do I change the page size of a PDF?
Open your PDF, choose the new paper size (for example A4 or Letter), select how the content should fit and click Resize PDF. Every page is converted and you can download the new file.
Will resizing reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. The pages are rescaled mathematically, not turned into images, so text and vector graphics stay perfectly sharp and remain selectable and searchable.
What is the difference between Fit, Fill and Stretch?
Fit shows the whole original page and keeps its proportions, leaving empty space if the shapes differ. Fill covers the whole sheet while keeping proportions, so some edges may be cut. Stretch fills the sheet exactly and may slightly distort the content.
Can I convert a US Letter PDF to A4 (or A4 to Letter)?
Yes. Choose A4 or Letter as the new size and keep Fit selected. The content is scaled slightly and centred so nothing is cut off when you print.
Can I enter a custom page size?
Yes. Choose Custom size and enter the width and height in millimetres or inches. Sizes from 13 mm up to 5 m are supported.
What happens to landscape pages?
With the default orientation setting, each page keeps its own orientation: landscape pages get a landscape sheet of the chosen size. You can also force all pages to portrait or landscape.
Are links and form fields kept?
Yes. Instead of copying pages into a new file, WoowPDF rescales each page in place and moves link, comment and form-field areas with the content, so they keep working.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Your PDF never leaves your device.
Can I add a margin around the content?
Yes. Set a margin in the advanced options to keep content away from the edges, which helps printers that cannot print to the edge. With Fit you can also colour the empty area.
Can I resize several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add multiple files and each one is resized with the same settings. Download them separately or together as a ZIP file.
