Creating PDF Bookmarks

Got a long PDF with no navigation? This adds bookmarks - those clickable links you see in the sidebar that jump to different sections. Good for reports, manuals, ebooks, academic papers. Makes it way easier to find stuff instead of scrolling forever.

Upload

Click upload, pick your PDF. Shows page count and size. Interface loads ready for bookmark creation.

Interface

Three areas:

• Left - Bookmarks Editor: Where you create and manage bookmarks
• Center - Preview: Shows your document
• Right - Settings: Configure appearance

First Bookmark

Click "Add Bookmark". Each needs:

• Title: What shows in navigation
• Page Number: Where it jumps to
• Level: Hierarchy (0 for main, 1 for subsections)

Start with major sections. Like "Executive Summary," "Introduction," "Results."

Hierarchy

Use levels to organize:

• Level 0: Main chapters
• Level 1: Major sections
• Level 2: Subsections
• Level 3: Detailed points

Indent/outdent buttons adjust levels. Creates that expanding/collapsing structure.

Organizing

Drag and drop to rearrange. Up/down arrows for fine-tuning. Auto-numbering available in settings if you want it.

Appearance

Settings panel lets you customize:

• Colors for each level
• Indentation spacing
• Show/hide icons
• Display page numbers next to titles
• Auto-generate TOC page

Preview

Switch between desktop, tablet, mobile views to see how bookmarks appear on different devices.

Generate

When bookmarks are positioned and titled correctly, click "Generate PDF with Bookmarks". Processes your doc, embeds navigation. Result includes:

• Clickable bookmarks in sidebar
• Hierarchical table of contents
• All original content preserved
