How to convert an EPUB e-book to PDF

EPUB is great on an e-reader, but not every device, printer or app can open it. WoowPDF's EPUB to PDF converter turns DRM-free e-books into PDFs that open everywhere and print exactly as they look on screen. Chapters stay in reading order, each starting on a new page, images and the book's own styling are preserved, and the table of contents becomes clickable PDF bookmarks. Choose a book-sized page for comfortable reading or A4 and Letter for printing, and add page numbers and a cover in one click.

How to convert EPUB to PDF

  1. Add your e-book. Drop one or more .epub files on the page or click Choose files.
  2. Pick the layout. Choose Book (A5), 6 × 9 in, A4 or Letter, and small, normal or large text. Adjust the margins in the advanced options if needed.
  3. Cover and page numbers. Keep Start with the cover image and Add page numbers on, or turn them off.
  4. Convert and download. Click Convert to PDF and download your PDF, or all PDFs as a ZIP.

A faithful, readable layout

An EPUB is a small website: chapters written in HTML, styled with CSS, with pictures and sometimes embedded fonts. WoowPDF lays out the book with a full browser rendering engine, so it understands all of that. Headings, italics, drop caps, block quotes, lists, tables and images come out as the author designed them, and long paragraphs avoid lonely first and last lines at page breaks. Links between chapters and footnotes keep working in the PDF, and web links remain clickable.

Bookmarks and table of contents

Every chapter and section heading becomes a PDF bookmark. Open the bookmarks panel in Adobe Reader, Preview, a browser or a tablet app and jump straight to any chapter, just like the table of contents on your e-reader. If the book has a cover image, it is placed on the first page on its own, without a page number.

Every language

Because the text is rendered with complete Unicode fonts, e-books in Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Hindi, Bengali, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian and many other languages convert correctly, including right-to-left text. The result is real, selectable and searchable text, not pictures of pages.

Secure server conversion

A complete e-book layout needs a full rendering engine, so the conversion runs on WoowPDF's own server rather than in your browser. Each book is unpacked in an isolated temporary folder; scripts, remote content and references to anything outside the book are removed before rendering, and the files are deleted as soon as your PDF is ready. Nothing is kept or shared.

About DRM

E-books bought from some stores are protected with DRM (digital rights management) and encrypted. Those files cannot be converted by WoowPDF or any legitimate converter. DRM-free books, such as public-domain classics, many self-published titles and books from DRM-free publishers, convert without problems.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an EPUB file to PDF?

Drop your .epub file on this page, choose the page size, text size and whether you want a cover and page numbers, then click Convert to PDF and download the result.

Is the EPUB to PDF converter free?

Yes. It is free, with no watermark and no account. You can convert several e-books at once, up to 100 MB each.

Will images, chapters and formatting be kept?

Yes. Chapters are kept in reading order and each starts on a new page. Images, the book's own styles and embedded fonts are used, so the PDF looks like the e-book.

Does the PDF have a table of contents?

Yes. The chapter and section headings become PDF bookmarks, so you can jump between chapters in any PDF reader. Links inside the book keep working too.

Can I convert Kindle or other DRM-protected e-books?

No. Books protected with DRM are encrypted and cannot be read by any converter without breaking the protection. Only DRM-free EPUB files are supported, such as many public-domain, self-published and publisher DRM-free titles.

Which page size should I choose?

Book (A5) and 6 × 9 in give a comfortable book-like page for reading on screens and tablets or printing as a booklet. Choose A4 or Letter to print on standard office paper.

Are my files uploaded?

Yes, because a complete e-book layout needs a full HTML rendering engine, the file is converted on WoowPDF's own server. It is processed in an isolated temporary folder, scripts and external content are blocked, and the files are deleted as soon as the conversion finishes.

Are books in Arabic, Hindi or Chinese supported?

Yes. The converter uses a full text engine with Unicode fonts, so right-to-left scripts, Indic scripts and CJK characters are rendered correctly and remain selectable text.

Is the text in the PDF searchable?

Yes. The text is real text, not images, so you can search, select and copy it, and the file stays small.

Can I convert several e-books at once?

Yes. Add multiple EPUB files and each one is converted with the same settings. Download them one by one or together as a ZIP file.
